Words cannot express our pain at the tragic loss of our Chairperson, Phumzile Mabizela.
She was not just a leader, she was a friend, mentor, prophet, and truth-teller. Her courage to speak out and act embodied what We Will Speak Out stands for. Her passion for justice was as infectious as her sense of humour, and her no-nonsense approach kept us real. As a global HIV and gender activist, she has left a massive gap in the world, our coalition, and in our lives.
Our deepest condolences to her children, her mother, and all the many many people who love her across the globe.
Hamba Kahle, Mama, you have run a good race. We pray that God will give us the grace to continue your powerful legacy in our work and the way we live our lives.
