I remain grateful for the opportunity to have joined the Faith to Action Network gathering in September 2025 in Machakos, Kenya, where people from across Africa came together alongside global neighbours united by a shared vision. It was a time of learning, dialogue and solidarity as we strengthened our commitment to the well-being of our children, youth, adults, families and communities. Together, we exchanged ideas and experiences that continue to inspire and guide our efforts to mobilise social justice, gender justice, environmental justice and holistic well-being across our continent.
As I reflect on that gathering, I am reminded that another Africa is possible—an Africa built not on fear, exclusion and division, but on hope, solidarity and justice.
We say NO to vigilantism.
We say NO to xenophobia and Afrophobia.
We say NO to using national borders as an excuse to deny the dignity, humanity and rights of our fellow Africans.
Can we imagine a future where we embrace the call to unscramble Africa—to reimagine and build a new African economy that serves people before profit, communities before greed, and justice before exploitation?
Our continent continues to carry the scars of slavery, colonialism and systems that have shaped unjust social realities, mindsets, beliefs, practices and behaviours. Yet we refuse to be defined by that history. Instead, we choose an African Renaissance rooted in dignity, cooperation, innovation and shared prosperity.
We do not need more gated communities or gated nationalism.
We need greater African unity.
We need to share knowledge, resources, technology and opportunities across borders.
We must challenge geopolitical greed, corruption and economic systems that deepen inequality while enriching only a few.
Let us build societies where fairness, equality, inclusion and basic human rights are not privileges, but realities for every person.
Together, let us create communities where every child is protected, every young person has hope, every family can flourish, and every nation contributes to the common good of our continent.
The work of transforming Africa belongs to all of us. Governments, civil society, faith communities, businesses, young people and citizens each have a role to play in building a continent where justice, peace and shared prosperity become everyday realities.
Africa’s future belongs to all of us. Together, we can mobilise healthy faith to make positive, values-based action.
