Interfaith Statement

In a historic move, people from seven different faith groupings joined forces against GBV in South Africa in an Interfaith Campaign. Faith scholars, activists and leaders launched a joint Interfaith Statement of Commitment for practical and accountable action by faith signatories.

In the Statement, we admit that faith communities have not done enough and have sometimes, by our inaction, silence, or misuse of religious texts consciously or unconsciously been complicit in contributing to the scourge of GBVF. We also need to recognise that there are many positive faith sector initiatives and we highlight the role of the faith sector in ending GBV through concrete actions.
