By Dr Fikile Vilikazi-Alberts
She is sometimes called a girl
Other times called a woman
And also known as transwoman
The world knows her as mother
Constantly expected to take care of everyone
To nourish the weak
To nurture the feeble-hearted
She gave birth to Presidents and Farmers
To Nations
She is a wom(b)man
She carries nations in her belly
She has survived wars in her body, mind, spirit and soul
Others call her a survivor
Her prayers are still protecting nations …
She is grandmother … ugogo … nana … ukhulu … umakhulu … u Anti… Makhadzi … Rakgadi … Koko … Nkgono … mama … sisi … I Nkosi – kazi ….. Kgosi-gadi … Indlovu – kazi …
She is a woman, a womxn, a wom(b)man
A daughter …
She comes in many names, many races, many nations
She is a traveller, a refugee, a human being
Her scars tell stories of secrets untold …
Yet she rises everyday … she glows … she wins …
And she smiles …
I have faith in her …
She is a true lover of humankind …
No nation will be without her …. Everywhere
Today I celebrate her … and them …
I honour her …
I bow before her strength …
She is a queen of hearts …
